About Us
Greetings
Founded in 1927, our company has been engaged for many decades in the manufacture and sale of traditional crafts, including tea utensils, flower vases, incense burners, Buddhist statues, bronze statues, sculptures, busts, and monuments.
In 2014, we launched Kiryudo, a brand specializing primarily in tea utensils. Through this brand, we offer carefully selected iron kettles and silver kettles of superior quality and outstanding artistic value, along with other refined works.
Our main production area, Takaoka copperware, has a long and distinguished history dating back to 1611 (Keicho 16), when Maeda Toshinaga, lord of the Kaga Domain, established casting workshops as part of an industrial policy.
With the advent of the Meiji period, production gradually shifted from everyday items to fine art and craftworks. Exquisitely crafted and ornate pieces gained international acclaim, winning numerous awards at world expositions and earning widespread recognition.
Over time, manufacturing and processing techniques continued to advance and evolve, fostering the development of diverse and distinctive forms of artistic expression.
In 1975, Takaoka copperware was designated as a Nationally Designated Traditional Craft in the first round of governmental recognitions, and in 1979 it was further designated as a Specified Industrial Production Area, firmly establishing its status as a traditional craft.
Rooted in traditions and sophisticated techniques cultivated over nearly 400 years, we are dedicated to creating refined works imbued with the spirit of wabi-sabi—distinctive Japanese aesthetics that value simplicity, depth, and quiet beauty. At the same time, we are committed to preserving these traditions and cultural values and passing them on to future generations.
Guided by this belief, we devote ourselves to our craft each day, and we are deeply grateful for your continued support.
