About Takaoka Bronzeware
Takaoka Bronzeware, Japanese classic elegance art products.
400 years ago, the lord of Toshinaga Maeda ruled the Etchu and Kaga area. He built a castle in Takaoka city.
In order to prosper the local area surrounding the Castle, he established metal workshops in Kanaya Street. This marked the beginning of the history of Takaoka Bronzeware.
At that time, the craftsmen based in Kanayamachi dedicated the majority of their time towards the manufacture of everyday ironware items,such as pots, pans, and kettles.
In the middle of Edo period, with an increase in demand for bronzeware items, especially in Japanese religion field, Buddha pieces and its accessories became popular among ordinary families.
From Meiji to Taisei, the brazier, tea set, and its surrounding items had a lot of demands, Takaoka Bronzeware art value was known in whole country.
In 1975, for the first Japanese Traditional Art Property evaluation, TakaokaDoki was the first one of gotten art evaluation, at the same time, Takaoka was appointed as a Special Industrial Area by government.
Now, Takaoka is well-known as an art bronzerware city.
